About the trail

Solitary is a fun and challenging trail in Centennial Reserve for intermediate to advanced riders.

It starts with a drop and a few rollable double-drops, followed by sharp switchbacks to test your skills. You’ll ride over trail roots, along a ridge, and a steep drop towards the end. After some more switchbacks, you’ll connect to the end of the Repeat Offender track.

Getting there

Solitary begins near the Centennial Reserve entrance on Main Road, Maupuia, just before the pump track. The trail starts just past the gate on the left.

Know before you go

  • Solitary is a downhill-only, bike-priority trail.
  • The track is shared use. Walkers and runners must give way to mountain bikers.
  • Always check for track updates on Trailforks before heading out.
  • For an up-to-date weather report, check MetService.
  • The trail is Grade 3 Intermediate when the conditions are dry, and closer to a Grade 4 when wet. Some of the corners are clay and can get greasy/slippery.
