Orpheus Choir Wellington — Haydn’s ‘The Creation’

The mighty Orpheus Choir takes centre stage in August. They will present one of the Baroque period’s great masterpieces. The choir will mount Joseph Haydn’s ‘The Creation’ along with Orchestra Wellington and three soloists. The eighteenth-century composer’s visionary work blends tension, beauty, and celebration. The music and storytelling merge to depict the world’s formation. The opening bars portray prehistoric earth, through to the dawn of life. 

The performance offers a reimagined perspective on the choral piece. It merges timeless music with modern creativity. It will feature dance from Footnote New Zealand, stunning special effects, and a cinematic LED screen. Each element combines to enhance the narrative of the universe’s formation.
