What do you get when you combine one of Aotearoa’s most successful hip-hop artists and a full orchestra? A collaboration that will push boundaries and please audiences. With the most top ten songs of any individual in New Zealand music history, Che Fu is one of the country’s most beloved musicians. His career as a hip-hop and soul singer has produced chart-topping songs like ‘Chains’, ‘Fade Away’ and ‘Misty Frequencies’. He is a pioneer of hip-hop and Pasifika music. His captivating performances have earned him a Pacific Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Award. He is also a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit. 

Orchestra Wellington was founded in 1948 and is the country’s oldest professional orchestra. Its 70 players are involved in multiple concerts in the wider region every year. This collaboration has come about through the work of the music festival, Classical on Cuba. The festival delights in offering unique twists on the classical music genre. It continues to attract diverse audiences to classical music and redefine the traditional concert hall experience.
