A person in a navy blue tuxedo stands with their left leg crossed over the right, their left hand on their hip, and their right hand holding a trumpet over their right shoulder.

That sparkling brilliant sound you can hear ringing in your ears is brass. The Royal New Zealand Air Force Band is back. It’s planning its biggest event of the year. Head to the Michael Fowler Centre to hear the Air Force in Concert. Catch a collection of hits from symphonic masterworks, and jazz standards, to musical theatre, and pop classics. This year, the concert will highlight local Wellington talent and feature local choir Supertonic. Made up of Wellingtonian singers, the group enjoys pushing the boundaries of what choral music can do. Soloist singers Barbara Graham and Matt Mulholland will also perform.

The Air Force Band is a reserve force military band based in Wellington. They perform regularly to welcome dignitaries at the Government House and Parliament. They also provide music for parades, and commemorations at Pukeahu National War Memorial.
