Located 12 kilometres south of Wainuiomata, Catchpool Valley off Coast Road is the most popular entrance to Remutaka Forest Park.

Maintained by the Department of Conservation, the campground has facilities including toilets, showers, and gas barbeques. The Catchpool Centre is available to hire for functions and events, with up to 50 people. It has a 24-hour emergency telephone.

Nearby picnic areas along the Catchpool Stream provide sheltered spots and picturesque nature scenes. A popular spot for local drama and commercial filming.

There are walking tracks for all ages and fitness levels in Remutaka Forest Park. The Orongorongo Track starts here giving access to the Orongorongo River as day walk or for overnight stays in one of the many Hutts bookable through Department of Conservation.

There is plentiful parking and good access, the park gate is locked outside daylight hours.
