Royal New Zealand Ballet 2025 Season
14 March – 8 November 2025St James Theatre

The Opera House
It’s a hilarious hybrid of Monty Python farce and Sherlock Holmes mystery. ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ is a mad-capped piece of live theatre. It follows the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society’s performance of a classic murder-mystery play. Everything that can go wrong, does go wrong — to hilarious effect. There’s an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over the set and their lines.
The play is the longest-running comedy in London and has won Olivier and Tony awards. Now celebrating its tenth anniversary, the show serves up riotous laughter wherever it plays. While playing in the United States, a critic from The New York Times was inspired to call it “A gut-busting hit.” The New York Post had one word for its readers: “GO!” Catch the hijinks and comedy mayhem when things go from bad to utterly disastrous on The Opera House stage in 2025.
