It’s often described as Puccini’s most enduring operatic masterpiece. New Zealand Opera presents ‘La bohème’ at the St James Theatre. Since its debut in 1896, the music of ‘La bohème’ has moved the hearts of generations. The story of the tragic romance created a blueprint for countless works to follow. The NZ Opera season promises a transporting and emotional take on this enduring work. Mimi, Rodolfo, Marcello, and Musetta are part of a core cast of friends and lovers. They share dreams and passions in a world whose edges feel sharper by the day. Their struggles and hardships compound into tragedies, yet their spirits remain high. 

The cast and creative team are a mix of international and national talent. South Korean Ji-Min Park and Australians Elena Perroni and Samuel Dundas take the three main leads. Wellington-based Emma Pearson is joined by Kiwis Robert Tucker, Hadleigh Adams, and Benson Wilson.
