Two street performers dresses in silver and blue with disco balls on their heads are dancing and waving as a part of the CubaDupa street festival in Wellington.

Returning in March 2025, CubaDupa takes over the heart of Wellington for two days of carnival-style festival. The Cuba Street quarter will swell with food trucks, street theatre, dance, acrobats, and live music. Wander the streets, get lost in the magic, and get your groove on.

Whether you visit during the day or late into the night, CubaDupa is a calendar highlight that celebrates the city and the arts. Suitable for the whole family, it’s a very Wellington way to see out the end of summer.

Stages throughout the festival will showcase New Zealand’s emerging talent alongside established artists. The lineup includes over 140 local and international acts. Wellington soul, funk, and roots collective TOI will be a Saturday night highlight. Fresh off a tour with Crowded House and a set at Laneway 2025, Vera Ellen will take to the stage. Audiences can also see Silver Scroll-winning artist Anna Coddington, Diggy Dupé, Mā & The Fly Hunnies, Chelsea Jade, and funk band Black Comet. The mesmerising COLOSSAL circus will take to the air and Brazil’s Mass Frevo Orchestra will bring the spirit of carnival.

The 2025 festival shines a spotlight on communal joy. Play with a larger-than-life interactive abacus, or bring the kids along to Fun and Funner with Orchestra Wellington. The classical group joins forces with actor/comedians Karen O'Leary and Vanessa Stacey to amuse kids of all ages. There will also be a fashion show, a body art competition, and more.

No tickets are required. This event is free for everyone and open to the public.
