Terrace Tunnel is a 460-metre-long tunnel has three lanes (two northbound and one southbound). It is the gateway to Wellington, as it connects State Highway 1 and the Inner City Bypass.

When the Terrace Tunnel opened in 1978 it became the second highway tunnel in Wellington. It underwent an extensive upgrade in 2012, involving new lighting, ventilation, and drainage systems.

The 460-metre-long tunnel has three lanes (two northbound and one southbound). It is the gateway to Wellington, as it connects State Highway 1 and the Inner City Bypass.

During peak traffic times, more than 1,000 cars per hour travel through the tunnel. It has been the site of several climate change protests.

There is no pedestrian or cycle access through the tunnel.
