Plans are focused on the Golden Mile, Wellington’s main retail and commercial strip which includes Courtenay Place, Te Ngākau Square, and Thorndon Quay. It runs from the Parliament end of Lambton Quay, along Willis and Manners Streets, to the entertainment hub of Courtenay Place where construction will begin. The project will connect people across the central city with a reliable transport system and generous spaces to enjoy what Wellington has to offer.
Works will begin in 2025. While this is an exciting time for the future of the city, it’s clear that there are potential challenges posed to businesses while the project is ongoing. As the region’s economic development agency, WellingtonNZ is here to support those affected by Golden Mile works. There are resources and tools available to businesses in these areas to support their continued success.
All support resources are available to business owners in the areas affected by the Golden Mile works. There are three precincts within the area: Courtenay Place, Te Ngākau Square, and Thorndon Quay.
