Wellington has an excellent public transport system which is well used by the locals. Metlink has an easy to use journey planner to help you get anywhere within the Wellington region.

Metlink services include buses, trains and ferries.

The Wellington Cable Car leaves from downtown Wellington to the leafy, village-like suburb of Kelburn. At the top of the Cable Car, you will find some of the best views of Wellington. Here, you will also find the award-winning Cable Car Museum, and the start of the Wellington Botanic Garden.
