KNOW what to do on a Summer's weekend
You can't beat Wellington on a good day - so this Summer make sure you head out and enjoy the sun. Here's a few suggestions on what you can do...
- Go for walk along Oriental parade and indulge in some yummy gelato from Kaffee Eis - raspberry, coconut and tiramisu are delicious!
- Wellington's Meridan Energy Summer City always makes Wellington buzz with it's great range of outdoor concerts/events - make sure you pick up a programme.
- Find yourself a cosy spot in the sun and watch the world go by. Cuba Street's the best place - Olive and Plum cafes both have courtyards and yummy iced chocolates!
- Hit the shops on Cuba Mall and check out the quirky boutiques down Left Bank. Then treat yourself to a refreshing old-fashioned lemonade or for something naughty, try a vodka soaked raspberry champagne at Nikau cafe.
- Discover art in the city. Start at the City Gallery in Civic Square, then check out Popup Gallery on Ghuznee Street for that something different and Mary Newton Gallery on Vivian Street for funky exhibitions.
- Feast on tasty Mexican food together with a jug of margaritas at Sweet Mother’s Kitchen – perfect for a long lunch in the sun.
- Get active this summer and rock climb at New Zealand’s largest indoor rock wall at Fergs Kayaks on Queens Wharf. After the rock-climb hit the water and go for a kayak around the beautiful harbour.
- Head to Moore Wilson's and grab some fresh food and wine - crusty bread and dips are perfect, then find a cosy picnic spot at Waitangi park and spend the afternoon lazing in the sun.
- Go for a walk or run around the many scenic gardens at the Wellington Botanical Gardens. Afterwards grab a bite to eat at the newly opened Picnic cafe at Begonia House and then have some fun feeding the ducks!
